Archéologues et ordinateurs

Established 1982 and published by the Centre de Recherches Archéologiques (CRA) of the CNRS in Valbonne-Sophia Antipolis, the Newsletter was edited by Henri Ducasse, who in the same years was also responsible for the publication of the “Panorama des traitements de données en archéologie” under the initiative of the Association pour la promotion et la diffusion des connaissances archéologiques (Valbonne 1981, 1983 and 1985).

As part of the series “Lettres d'information du Centre de Recherches Archéologogiques”, the Newsletter contains short contributions, dealing with archaeology in general, without chronological and geographical limits, and giving ample space to the application both of information technology (databases, inventories, cataloguing standards) and mathematical and statistical methods.

Based on the CRA vocation for training and dissemination activities, the Newsletter also contains reviews of conferences, books, hardware and software, notices of forthcoming events, and useful bibliographic updates, thanks to the steady policy of acquisition and exchange promoted by the CRA Library. Publication ended in 1995.
